On Tuesday February 24 the Somerville Road EXCEL Site had a Mardi Gras party. The children made masks, got to eat purple, green, and yellow cookies, and got to have a miniature Mardi Gras parade in the cafeteria. The Site Coordinator, Mrs. Wiley, explained to the children what Mardi Gras is about. She told them that they could "misbehave" that day during snack time while they made their masks and had their snack. Once they had the parade, they had to be on their best behavior because once Mardi Gras is over you are expected to be on your best behavior.
