The staff and students at the Somerville Road EXCEL site decided to help beautify the school this year as their service project.  It as decided that EXCEL would clean up the area outside of the cafeteria and plant flowers, bushes, and shrubs. On the day we did this, the classes were taken out one at a time. The site coordinator told the students that they were about to become parents and that they would get to take care of their very own flower. She told the students that their flower would need water, sun, love, and no weeds around it. The children then got to plant their very own flower. They had a blast. When their parents came to pick them up, all of the children had to take their parent out to see their "baby" that they had planted.
