Electric Circuits Module Overview
This unit introduces students to the properties and uses of electricity through hands-on explorations of wires, batteries, bulbs, and switches. Students learn about the function of key components of electrical systems such as circuits, diodes, and insulation. They learn to wire a simple circuit, construct a circuit tester, build a simple switch, and read a circuit diagram. They apply troubleshooting strategies to make an incomplete circuit complete. In culminating activities, the students apply what they have learned to design and build a flashlight and to wire a cardboard-box house.
