General: Living materials are one of the hardest materials in which to maintain high quality . Because of the nature of live organisms the will always be some fatalities. We have arrangements with the vendors for replacement of deceased organisms. We know this can be inconvient and we appreciate your patience. There are things that can cause problems with living organisms in the classroom. Some of these include:
+ improper Ph balance in the water
+ failer to use Clorout properly
+ keeping animals in delivery containers too long
+ overfeeding
If you need replacement organisms please contact the vendor directly. They often have questions that we can't answer readily and this will help in getting your replacements more quickly. If you have trouble contacting a vendor call the HASP office at (256) 890-6156 or email Rob Cook at cookr@email.uah.edu and we will be glad to assist you.
If contacting Carolina Biological, it is helpful to have the invoice that came on the box of your original shipment.

A - 'Myself & Others':Mural Paper is kept at the schools. We keep a record of how many sections are taught at each school so we will know about when you need a new roll. If you don't have enough to get through the current year let us know.B - 'Living Things':
Please clean tanks before returning them. We have to refurbish too many in too short a time to stop and wash them. HINT: If you put tape on the tank and write students names on the tape it is easier to pull the tape off than to scrub the china marker off the tanks.D - 'Wood':
There have been reports of allergic reactions to the sawdust. Be aware that this is a possibility. Ask students ahead of time if they are allergic to sawdust. They may not know that they are allergic so watch them as they begin to use the sawdust for signs of an allergic reaction.

Because of the large number of modules that have to be refurbished in a short time we are unable to spend the time peeling tape off of these scales. You can help by having the children peel thier tape off before turning in the scales. Then we can wipe them down to remove any left over residue when the module is refurbished.
