Decatur City Schools Foundation
The Decatur City Schools Foundation was formed in 1992 to raise
funds to be given back to the schools in the form of mini-grants
for teachers with creative ideas to enhance learning. These
funds were donated by businesses and people in our community.
In 2004, the Foundation achieved its initial goal of raising a
corpus of one million dollars. From 1992 through 2004, the
Foundation has given 536 mini-grants to 683 teachers for a total
of $210,245.00. These mini-grants have ranged from classroom
supplemental supplies to the major establishment of the Wetlands
Edge Environmental Center in partnership with Decatur City Schools
and BP.
