MEDICAL CARE CAREERS I is designed to provide instruction
in the following areas: health habits, interpersonal skills, healthcare
history and trends, medical terminology, safety in healthcare, patient
care skills, and job responsibilities of various healthcare workers.
The purpose of this class is to introduce students to healthcare.
MEDICAL CARE CAREERS II allows students to learn multi competency
healthcare skills through classroom, laboratory, and community-based
activities. Topics to be covered in the course will include healthcare
skills related to careers and illnesses while investigating the
diseases and treatment of illnesses within each body system. The
purpose of the course is to expose the students to the healthcare
delivery system, thereby, enabling students to make tentative career
choices.
MEDICAL CARE CAREERS III prepares students for employment
in a specific healthcare job or entry into a healthcare postsecondary
program. Topics that will be covered include diagnostic, therapeutic,
preventive, and rehabilitative services. The purpose of this course
is to allow students to participate in clinical experience by observing
or assisting healthcare workers on the job, thereby, helping students
to make tentative career choices and plan further training.
