School Safety

Crisis Response Team

Decatur City Schools has established a Crisis Response Team on a Central Office level to respond to any crisis a school may have. The Crisis Response Team is a vital part of the schools Comprehensive School Safety Plan. The Crisis Response Team is charged with providing an enhanced level of safety and security for students, staff, and visitors within the school.  When an emergency or crisis situation exists at or near a Decatur City School, the system wide Crisis Response Team responds. The team members report to the site in order to assist the local school administration with implementation of the pre-existing safety plans. 

Members of the Decatur City Schools Crisis Response Team include Central Office supervisors, maintenance supervisor, School Resource Officers, at-risk counselors, school psychologist, and the director of Decatur Youth Services. These individuals are capable of responding with short notice, have skills and knowledge in the areas of school safety and are capable of working in a team relationship, work well in stressful situations and have skills in dealing with other people. The Board of Education places emphasis on the safety of school students and staff.
