Reading Recovery

Additional education assistance is provided to students in the Decatur City School System via the Reading Recovery Program. This is a research-based program that is implemented with the lowest performing first grade students in Title I schools. Students are serviced intensely for 30 minutes a day for up to 22 weeks. Children are exited when one reaches the average performance level of his/her class. This teacher services seven individual students and spends the remainder of his/her instructional time with second graders who were served the previous year through Reading Recovery.
