Third Grade Violin Program

The Decatur City Schools System and The Symphony School of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra is pleased to offer the Third Grade Violin Program. Our program provides ten free introductory lessons to every third grader in our school system. The lessons, taught by artist-faculty from The Symphony School, use a curriculum based on the highly successful Suzuki Violin Method which begins with the premise that every child can learn.

The Third Grade Violin Program has received attention throughout the region and is the model for similar programs elsewhere. The program received a Notable Award for Education from the American Symphony Orchestra League, and was featured at the national conference in June 2001 in Seattle, Washington.
