Attendance Information

In order to insure safety and security, children will report directly to the cafeteria or designated meeting place immediately after being dismissed from the regular classroom. They will remain under the supervision of Decatur City School employees until parents pick them up at 5:30 p.m.
 
In order to receive maximum benefit from the EXCEL Program, children will be expected to attend everyday that they are in school and remain until 5:30 p.m. Children who do not attend school during the regular day will not be allowed to participate in the after school program.
 
The EXCEL After School Program will close promptly at 5:30 p.m. each day. Parents must make sure that children are picked up at this time. Parents are expected to enter the building and sign students out similar to the early checkout procedures followed during the regular school day. Children will only be allowed to leave after they have been signed out in the presence of EXCEL staff. They will only be released to people listed on the EXCEL registration form.
 
The dangers of children walking home alone at 5:30 p.m. are obvious. For this reason, EXCEL participants will not be allowed to walk home at the end of EXCEL activities without written permission from parents.
