About
The EXCEL (Expanding Children’s
Eagerness to Learn) After School
Learning Center Program is an extension of the regular school day.
EXCEL will provide children with a planned program of cultural and
recreational enrichment. This program, supervised by Decatur City
School employees, will also provide children with homework assistance
and other academic tutoring in a safe and secure environment.
The EXCEL Learning Center Program is funded by
Decatur City Schools and a 21st Century Community Learning Center
grant from the U.S. Department of Education. This program is FREE
of charge to parents, and will assist in strengthening the ties
between the home and school and promote community involvement.
Hours of Operation
The EXCEL Learning Center will operate Monday
through Thursday during regular school days. Children
will go directly from their regular classroom to the EXCEL Program
and will be dismissed at 5:30 p.m. EXCEL will follow
the regular school calendar and will not be open holidays, half-days,
snow days, or on any other day that school is not in session for
a full day. It is the responsibility of the parent to make other
arrangements for children on these days.
