Policies
Health and Safety
Information concerning allergies or health restrictions must be
on file along with a physician's name and telephone number. If
children become ill or injuried while at Extended Day, parents
must assume liability for accidents and injuries.
If applicable, Extended Day Program personnel will use discretion
securing the necessary emergency services for students (i.e. emergency
medical treatment, paramedic services, and ambulance service at
the expense of the parent).
Two local emergency names and telephone numbers must be on file
for each child in case a parent cannot be reached.
WHEN IN DOUBT IDENTIFICATION WILL BE REQUIRED.
Snacks
A snack and drink will be served daily. Some cooking activities
may also produce edible products.
Discipline
Discipline will be consistent and fair. Standards of conduct are
the same as for the regular school day. The Decatur City Schools
Code of Student Conduct Booklet will be enforced. Failure to comply
with the rules of conduct may result in the child being suspended
from the program. If at any
time a child's behavior endangers the safety of himself or others,
the child may be dismissed from the program immediately.
Severe Weather
The Extended Day Enrichment Program will use the same guidelines
for severe weather as are followed during the regular school day.
Designated areas that provide the most protection will be used
in a severe weather warning.
If a warning is issued, the Program Director will contact the
Site Coordinator. The Site Coordinator will order all students
and staff to the designated area.
Schedule
The Extended Day Program will adhere to the same calendar that the Decatur City School System follows. If schools are closed due to holidays or inclement weather, the Extended Day Program wil not offer services and no fee will be charged for these days.
Pick Up Procedures
Students will be checked out only by those persons who are authorized to do so on the registration form. For safety purposes, all parents/guardians must sign their children out daily. If a different adult is to pick up a child, a written note giving permission must be given to the Site Coordinator prior to pick up time. |
