Second Grade "Explorers"
This year, our second grade "Explorers" class began with a study of Exploration and Discovery focusing on Christopher Columbus and then other explorers. They read from a variety of books and genres about Columbus and other explorers and will complete a number of learning activities related to him and his exploration. There will be a huge focus on understanding "perspective" or point of view throughout the year. It is my belief that students need to be open-minded and consider events from many angles/perspectives as they study any topic. I hope you will hear them incorporate some of the words and concepts they learn into their everyday language.

In our research project, we created fact files to help us organize our notes and then we used our notes to create projects like powerpoints and flip folders about the various explorers we learned about.
