Welcome to Eastwood Elementary School - a special place for kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grade students! At Eastwood our students come first! Our faculty is strongly committed to providing an excellent, stimulating program which addresses the needs of each child.

Our strong program, based on the Alabama Course of Study, is focused on student learning. It is our desire that every student reach his/her fullest potential. In addition to high academic standards, we provide a variety of opportunities for students to learn and grow including a very active student council, Show Choir, Club Invention, and science club. Our PTA provides many cultural arts experiences for our students.

Eastwood Elementary School is proud to be a reading demonstration site for the Alabama Reading Initiative. Our faculty continually receives extensive training in current research on best practices in reading development. Eastwood is also an AMSTI school . AMSTI stands for Alabama Math, Science, Technology Initiative. Our students learn math, science, and technology through activity-based, inquiry approaches consistent with the latest research on effective math and science instruction. In January our faculty will train on Talents Unlimited. Next summer teachers will join the Mobile Math Initiative (MMI).
