Leon Sheffield Elementary, Decatur City Schools, and Decatur, Alabama, will be represented by our activities. The following guidelines will help us accomplish the goal of doing this in an appropriate manner: |
The responsibility of the chaperone is to assist in providing a safe trip for our students by enforcing all rules and guidelines established by the teachers and school.
Chaperones should set a good example for students at all times. This includes appropriate language, good attitude, cooperation, and appropriate dress.
Chaperones are asked not to visit establishments that are inappropriate for students.
Chaperones that smoke need to do so in designated areas only. Many students have allergies, so please do not smoke around students.
No alcoholic beverages will be allowed during the trip.
Bring all discipline problems to the lead teacher or principal.
If a student becomes sick, the teacher must be notified immediately. In life threatening situations, please call 911, and then notify teacher.
Chaperones should know which students you are responsible for at all times.
Check all tables, rest rooms, and areas where the students might have been for articles left behind and to secure that we leave places as neat and clean as we found them.
Chaperones must be with assigned students during all activities. Please do not allow students to roam unsupervised.
Remember, this is a school trip and not a family vacation.
All chaperones will be expected to ride the bus with the students.
