Georgia O'Keeffe 3rd Grade 3 - Dimensional Flowers
Georgia O'Keeffe is one of my favorite artists and I love sharing her style of art with my students. Her exploration of size and the use of positive and negative space helps students work bigger and see the parts that make up the whole. By creating a flower in this manner students are amazed at the size and beauty of their very unique creations. |
3rd Grade This project is great in demonstrating how to take 2-dimensional shapes and build them into a 3-dimensional form. Students learn about the parts of a flower -petals, leaves, pistols and stamens. They draw each on construction paper by using simple lines and shapes and add oil pastel colored details. These pieces were then cut-out and assembled to make their 3-D flower in the O'Keeffe style |
