Registration Requirements

When you register your child for school there are a few things that you need to have. They are as follows:

• A birth certificate. This needs to be the original. It has a raised seal. You can obtain this by contacting the state in which your child was born.
• A blue immunization form. This can be gotten from the health department.
• Proof of residence. A Decatur Utility bill or a lease agreement will do.
• Your child's Social Security card or a copy of it.

Our school was named in honor of Mr. Julian Harris, a former Board of Education member and legal counsel for the school system. Mr. Harris was an outstanding citizen of Decatur who served its citizens for many years. We are privileged to have been a part of his honorable life.

Julian Harris Elementary School was opened in the fall of 1987 on 15 acres of land with a square footage of 58,000. The cost of the building was $ 3,422,926. The building was designed by the firm of Renneker, Tichansky and Associates. It was built by J.T. Schrimsher of Huntsville, Alabama.
