Purpose:
We have a new friend in our class this year. He is a special friend that will enjoy being read to and held. His name is Houdini. We will be learning all about him and what he needs. In order to understand why we call him Houdini we need to know all about the real Houdini too. Let's have fun and learn. Below are some things you can do to have fun and learn about Houdini.
Get a KWL (Know, What I Need To Know, Learn) sheet from your teacher and fill out the first two columns. Turn it in to the teacher to be approved.
Look at the following web sites to learn about Crabs. Use what you learned to fill out column 3 on your KWL sheet. When the last column is done turn the KWL in to your teacher again for final grading. (You will be asked to share this with the class later.)
Choose one of the following books from the school library or from the class library to write a review about. Remember to include the name of the book and the author's name in your review. Summarize what you learned if it is nonfiction.
Choose one of the following sites to do a fun activity from.
Math Connection
Go to the following website and print a copy of the the Math Fun page to do.
Let's learn about his name
Let's learn about the real Houdini. He was a very special man. See if you can answer the following questions about him from the sites below. Good luck!
Hint: Highlight the questions below and copy (Ctrl. C) them into ClarisWorks. When you have answered the questions save them on your disk and tell the teacher.
Who was Harry Houdini?
What was he famous for?
What was his real name?
When did he die?
Just for fun:

Tell me about what you learned. Write a short review of the site and tell me if you liked it. Tell me at least 5 things that you have learned.
