Welcome to Mrs. Engram's fun-filled fifth grade class, where we are eager and excited about learning!! We are learning about the narrative, expository, and descriptive modes of writing. Our math emphasis is on multiplication, division, fractions, algebra, and geometry. In my classroom, I foster a hands-on approach to teaching math through the Maysville-Mobile Math Initiative, Calendar Math, the use of manipulatives, techology classwork, and homework. Special Friday activities include: mini-math lessons, test-taking skills and functional reading skills. Learning about various authors through our author studies helps to enhance our reading skillls along with our Voyager Reading Program, whole group and small group reading. Our class is working towards our goal of becomming 100% fluent in our reading. We practice this through progress monitoring, DIBELS, and by testing our retell accuracy. Personal Info
I've been married to my husband, Xavier for 5 years. We have one son, Xavier II. We enjoy working in our Church and spending time with family and friends. We adore our German Rottweiler "Shanaynay," We've had her since she was a puppy. I have a Bachelor's degree from the University of North Alabama in Social Work and I hold a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Alabama A&M University. I am currently a licensed Social Worker. I am excited because I have just finished my certification for School Guidance Counseling! I also love to sing, shop, and watch reality t.v.
