Mrs. Garland

Even though I have been in the classroom for 31 years I still get excited each and every day because I love to see kids learn This year marked a new beginning for me as I am teaching my native language of Spanish. ( I was born in Cuba and came to the US in 1962. I spoke no English at the time so I was an ELL child.) I teach Spanish at West Decatur on Mondays and Tuesdays and at Ben Davis on Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays. I have a BS in Elementary Education from the University North Alabama and a Masters Degree in Gifted Education from UAB. I was part of the group of teachers who helped develop the Magnet School program. I love math and was part of the MMI Priming Institute group. My son and daughter in law live in Atlanta.
