School Highlights and Achievements
1. Recognized by the Alabama State Department of Education as and "Honor Roll School" for 2005-2006.
2. Walter Jackson is proud to be a part of the Mobile Math
Initiative. We are creating a math resource area for all
faculty to use that will be filled with lots of new materials
and ideas. We have taken our new ideas to a new level by
creating interactive math graphs, diagrams, and charts on
our walls in the hall. All students are asked to participate
in all of the activities as one piece of our new energized
math curriculum.
3. As a school-wide involvement program we encourage environmental
awareness through recycling. Once a month our students bring
in cans to compete with other classrooms. We create recyclable
critters so that students can put their creative energies
to work.
4. Walter Jackson sponsors two Destination Imagination teams.
One team is a
third grade team and the other is a fourth and fifth grade
team. These teams encourage at an early age the beginning
of creative and critical thinking. For the two years that
we have had these teams , both teams have gone to the regional
competition.
5. Walter Jackson received the Parent Involvement Schools of Excellence Certification. This award is based on PTA's National Standards for Parent/Family Involvement Programs.
