ANNOUNCEMENTS
February 11, 2008
- There will be an Art Contest open to all Austin students sponsored by 3M.
The theme is: Helping Hands, Medium: Any 2D media such as ink, pencil,
paint, pastel, charcoal, etc. No digital work. Size: Any dimension from 8 x
10 up to 18 x 24. Deadline: March 31, 2008. Entries must be original
artworks. Please see MS. McDonald in J-08, or Mrs. Doran in V-13 if you have
any questions, or to turn in work.
- All faculty members are invited to visit Mrs. Burgreen’s room (S-101)
anytime today to see Honors World History Africa projects. Come see the
visuals and sample some African cuisine.
- If you want to know more about the risks involving teen pregnancy and
STD’s, be sure to buy the Accent. It will be on sale this Thursday and
Friday only for 25 cents.
- We are having trouble with students wearing sweat and wind pants to
school. If you will read your Austin Student Planner on page 23 you will see
that these are not allowed at Austin. Beginning today, any student that is
not following the dress code will be written up and sent to the office.
Appropriate discipline will be given, to clarify, sweatpants/wind pants of
any kind are not allowed at school. You may wear sweat shirts, but not the
pants. If your sport has issued these materials, they are only to be worn
after school or during your athletic period – not your other classes.
Teachers will also be writing up those students whose shirts are longer than
the tops of their pockets, those with sagging pants and other issues that
are clearly stated on page 23 of the handbook. If you are written up today
and it is not your first offense for dress code- be prepared to spend a
couple of days in ISS or CASE.
- Austin boy’s basketball will play Sparkman tonight at 7:00. The tickets
are $6.00, and your passes are not good at tonight’s game. Please come out
and support the Black Bears.
