- There will be an Art Contest open to all Austin students sponsored by 3M.
The theme is: Helping Hands, Medium: Any 2D media such as ink, pencil,
paint, pastel, charcoal, etc. No digital work. Size: Any dimension from 8 x
10 up to 18 x 24. Deadline: March 31, 2008. Entries must be original
artworks. Please see MS. McDonald in J-08, or Mrs. Doran in V-13 if you have
any questions, or to turn in work.
- We will have a Spirit Competition Friday for the basketball game. Dress in
your black and orange. Those who are dressed in black and orange, your name
will be put in a hat for a drawing for a free pass to the game. For those of
you who go “All Out” you will compete for a prize of a pass and a $10
Sonic card.
- All track practice will be at 3:30 this afternoon. There will be no 7th
period work out.
- Softball players come by the Drivers Education Simulation Room 7th
Period today.
- Reminder to FCCLA members that are competing in state competition. You
have a MANDATORY student/parent meeting tomorrow from 5-6 in Ms.
Gonzalez’s room. Also members going on trip tomorrow need to be sure and
come by Ms. Gonzalez’s after school to pick up your shirt for trip.
- 1:20 Boys/Girls tennis @ Russellville, list on email.
- Kettering University is accepting applications for their free Pre-College
Summer Program-AIM. AIM is a five-week residential summer program for
African American, Hispanic and Native American students that are currently
in the 11th grade. The program is seeking students who are
interested in the fields of engineering, math and/or science. Please see
Mrs. Carroll in guidance for an application.
- The Huntsville Chapter of Executive Women International is pleased to
announce its Fifteenth Annual Scholarship Program. This program awards
college scholarships to high school juniors, both male and female, whose
career plans include a four-year degree in any field of study. Please see
Mrs. Carroll in guidance for an application. Deadline is Feb. 29th.
- The 22nd Annual Alabama Governor’s School will be held the 15th
to 27th of June at Samford University. The Governor’s School
offers academically strong high school juniors an opportunity to participate
in a short residential program of stimulating academic and extra- curricular
activity. This year’s program theme will be “American Vision: World
View.” Please see Mrs. Carroll in guidance for an application. (Deadline
is March 3rd).
