ANNOUNCEMENTS
October 1, 2007
- Students interested in joining Interact Club should pick up an application
from Mrs. Duffey is S-4 by Oct 2nd. Essays and applications are
due Oct. 3rd at the first Interact meeting. Interact is a service
club open to all grades.
- Attention Jr. Civitan Members: If you are interested in becoming an
officer, sign up in Mrs. McNair’s room (S6) before Tuesday 10-02-07. The
officers to be filled are President, vice-President, Sec. Treasurer, Public
Relations Coordinator, Historian, Sergeant-at-arms, and Chaplain. Go by Mrs.
McNair’s room for a description of duties for each office. Also, make sure
you attend the next meeting to vote.
- Spanish Honor Society members remember to get officer nominations to Señora
Wiggins by Tuesday, Oct. 2nd.
- Congratulations to the Cross Country team for a great performance at the
Kudzu Hills Invitational. The JV boys were second overall; they were led by
Mathew Dunn (1) and Blake Vial (6) and Cole Humphries (15). The varsity
girls did not have enough runners to score as a team; individually Jennifer
Dunn placed 1st and Kristen Lupton 10th. The varsity
boys were 6th overall and were led by John Bolding (15) Peter
Nevels (16). Come out and support your XC team as they run the Jesse Owens
Classic this weekend. It is the states largest meet with over 3000 runners
from 6 states competing.
- This weekend the AHS band participated in the South Central Marching
Classic at Homewood High School. They gave an outstanding performance. All
units, including the band, percussion, color guard and drum majors received
a superior rating and they placed 3rd in their class.
Congratulations for the great show
- Attention seniors: The rep from Jacksonville State will be in the guidance
office from 1-3. Please sign up before you attend.
- Attention seniors: if you have not received a graduation supplies packet
needed to order your graduation supplies, please see Mrs. Thompson in the
Drama room A-4, or Ms. Stroh in E-2. Orders and money will be due on October
10th.
- The volleyball team went 2-2 in the Hoover tournament. Their record is
32-18. We will be playing Decatur on Wednesday. You can buy your ticket
during lunch starting tomorrow. Ticket prices are $2.00. We need your help
to beat DHS!
- National Honor Society members are needed at the Habitat Youth United
Build site Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 4:00 for a picture with major donor
contribution. Wear Habitat shirt, or AHS shirts.
- Any students interested in trying out for the girls or boy’s tennis
teams need to See Coach Walker in S-14 t sign up.
- The PSAT/NMSQT will be given on Wednesday, Oct. 17th. Any
junior interested in taking the PSAT needs to register with Mrs. Carroll by
Oct. 11th.
- The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards: If you’ve made a difference
by volunteering in your community over the past year, you could win $1000.
and a fabulous trip to Washington, D.C.. For additional information and an
application, please see Mrs. Carroll in the guidance office before October
24th.
