ANNOUNCEMENTS
October 10, 2007
- Reminder to all boys and girls that signed up for fall observations for
the golf team. Observations will be Oct. 15th and 16th
at 3:30 at the Strike Zone Driving Range. All golfers should bring their on
clubs and money to buy range balls for the observation. The observation will
take about one hour; make arrangements for your own transportation. Any
questions see Coach Shannon.
- Mu Alpha Theta dues of $10. for new members and $5.00 for returning
members are due Wed. Oct. 17 by 3pm. Money should be placed in an envelope
with your name on it and given to Mrs. Hopkins personally. Do not leave
money on her desk. You may come before or after school or between classes.
NO MONEY WILL BE TAKEN AT THE INDUCTION. Also, officers will meet Thursday
morning at 7:30 sharp in M-11.
- The Varsity volleyball team improved its record to 43-18 this past weekend
by winning the Athens Optimist Tournament. The following girls were named to
the All Tournament Team: Ali Barnett, Shanice Foster, Brittney Smith, and
Shara Foster was named MVP. The volleyball team is still ranked #10 in the
state. Go Lady Bears!
- If you would like to take the Pre-ACT PLAN test on Tuesday, Oct. 23rd,
the coast is $10.00 payable by check only. The deadline to sign up and pay
is Friday, Oct. 19th. Please see Mrs. Earley in the guidance
office to sign up and make a payment.
- HOSA members who are part of the October Celebration team will meet this
afternoon at 3:00 in Mrs. Tucker’s classroom.
- Girl’s Basketball tryouts are Monday, Oct. 15th @ 3:15 in the
Aux. Gym. All freshman and sophomores are welcome to tryout. Jrs. and Srs.
That are not in 7th period basketball are invited to attend.
- Prospective National Honor Society members are reminded to return forms to
Ms. Stroh or Mrs. Berryman by 3:00 pm today. You will not be considered for
membership unless these forms are returned today. Returning members of
National Honor Society are reminded to pay dues of $10. by Oct. 15th.
Please pay Ms. Stroh or Mrs. Berryman.
- The PSAT/NMSQT will be given on Wednesday, Oct. 17th. Any
junior interested in taking the PSAT needs to register with Mrs. Carroll by
Oct. 11th.
- The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards: If you’ve made a difference
by volunteering in your community over the past year, you could win $1000.
and a fabulous trip to Washington, D.C.. For additional information and an
application, please see Mrs. Carroll in the guidance office before October
24th.
- JV Boys basketball tryouts will be Oct. 11 and 12 at 3:30 in the aux. gym.
Students must sign up with Coach Garth or Coach Henson by Oct. 10th.
- On Wednesday, Oct. 10, Coach Watkins 1st period driver
education class should report to the Simulations Room. Also, on Wed., Coach
Wright’s 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th
period classes report to the Simulation room.
- Congratulations to the Robotics Team for winning first place in the
Tennessee Valley BEST Robotics competition last Saturday. The team also won
for “Most Robust” robot and “Most Elegant” design. The team advances
to regional competition at Auburn University for the 6th straight
year! A special congratulations to drivers Jon Moore, David McClure,
Jonathan Thompson, Phillip Betts, and Alex Johnson as well as spotters
Tiffany Alvis and Heather Sawyer for making the championship round
especially exciting! Also, Mrs. Haddock was presented with the “Toyota
Teacher of the Year” award.
- Jr. Civitan officers don’t forget the meeting today after school at 3:15
in Mrs. McNair’s room S6.
- Reminder to FCCLA members on the FACTS committee, AKA the Red Ribbon
committee, we have a meeting today after school from 3-4 in J2.
- FCCLA has a few spirit flip flops left for $8.00. Come by J2, J4 or J5 to
get yours. Also those members who are competing in STAR events or in the
Beef Cook-off, Ms. Gonzalez needs your Drug test forms and Beef recipes by
Friday to compete.
