- Congratulations to the Lady Bears Volleyball team for advancing to Sub
State! The lady bears will play Pelham at Pelham on Thursday. Their record
is 48-24 which is the 2nd best in school history. Go AHS
volleyball team.
- Senior portrait make up day is Tuesday, Oct. 23rd form 1:00 –
4:30 in the library. This is the picture that will be in the senior section
of the yearbook. The tuxedo or drape for the portrait will be provided. Cost
is $25 for 4 proofs and you select the picture for the yearbook, or FREE for
one picture taken for the yearbook. If you have any questions, see Mrs.
Vaughn or Mrs. Brown in the BE building.
- This Friday is AHS Homecoming! We will have a parade on Thursday, Oct. 25th
at 6:00. It starts at the Old State Bank and end at Banks Caddell elementary
School. Any club or organization that wishes to enter the parade must have
their registration form turned in by Friday, Oct. 19. Once again, we will
decorate the campus with door decorations. Doors will be judged during 1st
and 2nd periods on Friday. If you are in a trailer, decorate the
inside of one of the doors, and open it for judging. Remember the judges
will only judge decorations on the door, not skits or decorated halls.
- To all the FBLA members who are going on the Atlanta field trip on
November 7, you are required to return your permission slip to any of the
Business Ed. Teachers by Friday, October 26.
- If you are interested in representing Austin at the Alabama HOBY
Leadership conference May 16-18th at Troy University, please come
by the guidance office to sign up to have your name on the ballot to pick
five semi-finalists. The conference is FREE and open only to sophomores that
have demonstrated some type of leadership skills and who would like to
develop those skills further. Some past Austin HOBY representatives are:
Lauren Little, Jack Roberson, and Britney L. Smith. The five semi-finalists
will have to complete a short essay and be interviewed by a faculty panel.
You have until Oct. 29th to sign up so don’t delay.
- Attention HOSA members: If you are going on the trip to Memphis, the
first $10 deposit is due Wednesday. No late payments will be accepted. HOSA
Members planning to ride with HOSA in the homecoming parade need to go by
Mrs. Tucker’s room and pick up a permission form. No permission
form-NO RIDE!
- Sophmores are meeting 6-9 for the float, Monday – Wednesday.
- Reminder FCCLA Hospice members – we will have a meeting from 3-5 pm on
Wed. and those that want to stay past fiave we will deliver gifts to homes
until 7 pm. Only tested members can visit homes. Then on Thursday
those tested members will meet from 3-5pm to finish delivering gifts.
- Any band interested in playing at a concert on Oct. 27th at
Hartselle Park needs to see Mrs. Berryman ASAP.
- Called meeting for returning members of National Honor Society will be
Tuesday morning at 7:30 in M-13, Mrs. Berryman’s room.
- This past weekend the Austin High School marching band participated in the
Tennessee Valley Invitational Marching Competition at Muscle Shoals High
School. For the third and final time this season, all units including
band, percussion, color guard and drum majors received a superior rating. This
competition featured the greatest number of bands in the largest class of
bands – 11 from Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi. The percussion
finished second in its class by 0.5 points. The band also tied for
second place. The band has had a fantastic year and we are very proud of
their achievements this year
