Family and Consumer Sciences Department strives to meet the challenges faced by individuals and families. Formerly known as Home Economics Education, the program has broadened from that of domestic science and explicit homemaking skills to instruction that prepares young people for family life, work life, and careers in family and consumer sciences.

Parenting, Family and Consumer Sciences, Food Science, Clothing and Fashion Design, Family and Child Development, and Consumer Resource Management are just some of the courses offered in the Family and Consumer Sciences Department at Austin High School.
