Marketing Education Courses
Marketing Education I is unique because this course is the foundation of all Marketing Education and is a prerequisite for Marketing Education II. Marketing Education I introduces students to the field of marketing. This program develops interpersonal skills, critical thinking skills, and marketing skills paramount to the success of students in the business community. Emphasis is placed on the application of marketing concepts and foundations. Students develop skills in human relations, communications, work ethics, leadership and career development. Most Marketing Education I students participate in the co-op portion of the program. Marketing Education I is open to Juniors and Seniors who are least 16 years of age, have parental permission, and satisfactorily complete the application and interview process. (See admission to the Marketing Education program below.)
Marketing Education II provides students with advanced training in marketing with emphasis on management and entrepreneurial skills that prepare students through on-the- job training (co-op) for positions requiring higher levels of responsibilities within marketing businesses. In Marketing Education II, students acquire skills across all marketing functions including purchasing, distribution, selling, financing, and information management. Successful completion of Marketing Education I is a prerequisite for entering Marketing Education II. All students who are enrolled in Marketing Education II must participate in the cooperative education training aspect of the program.
Marketing Education Co-op
Cooperative Marketing Education is a privilege awarded to those students who are able and willing to assume the additional responsibility of employment while in school. This program is a privilege because students are given credit toward graduation for on-the-job training. It is a challenge to maintain excellence in school and on-the-job. By accepting this privilege and challenge, the student is expected to continuously put forth his/her best efforts in school and on-the-job.
Students are to remember that the Cooperative Marketing Education Program is a training program. It is designed for the student to develop useful employment skills, create a knowledge of the business world, and prepare the student for a career in his/her chosen area. Money is secondary. Getting out of school early is secondary. Making a car payment is secondary. Learning is primary. All decisions the coordinator makes regarding the student will be made with this in mind. Students are required to work at their approved training station an average of 15 hours per week to receive co-op credit.
Admission to the Cooperative Marketing Education Program

Students who are employed when they make application to the program will not be automatically admitted to the program because they are employed. The same evaluation for admission will be followed for these students.
