Decatur High School Developmental Program is located in the West Wing of Decatur High School. The building contains seven classrooms, a home skills training area, a prevocational area and a gymnasium. The faculty consists of six certified teachers, eleven teacher aides, a secretary and supervisor. Related services include speech therapy, mobility services, physical therapy, occupational therapy services and transition to work services. The Developmental Program serves as MOVE International Model Site and we also serve as partners in education with the Holiday Inn of Decatur.Approximately 50 secondary age students are served in the program. Qualified faculty and staff are available to assure each student's unique needs are met. An active hands on approach to teaching life skills is the cornerstone of the Developmental Program. Certified professionals, working closely with parents in the IEP process, develop individual education plans. Teachers and paraprofessionals in this program are trained and committed to develop skills necessary for successful transition to the world of work and other adult activities.
