Oak Park National Junior Honor Society
Membership Criteria
The Oak Park National Junior Honor Society will use the following criteria for membership eligibility.
Students in the eighth grade are eligible for membership.
Selection of students for membership will be made by a five member faculty council.
Selection of students for membership will be based on the student’s
Scholarship: The student must have a cumulative grade point average of 93 or above to be considered for membership.
Leadership: Leadership in school or social organizations will be considered with each candidate. Candidates will be asked to fill out a form outlining positions of leaderships, such as student council.
Character: The faculty council will consider input from all faculty members regarding a student’s character and behavior. Even though a students may have a 93 or above average, poor citizenship displayed at any time could prevent that student from being considered for membership in the Oak Park National Junior Honor Society. Students with more than one Class I discipline offense or any Class II or Class III offenses are not eligible for membership.
Service: Participation in school and community service organizations will be considered in membership selections. Nonparticipation in the service project can lead to dismissal.
To maintain membership, a student must continue to display good behavior and citizenship and to maintain the required grade point average.
The Oak Park National Junior Honor Society inducts new members in February of each year. Membership is provisional until a student is inducted.
Annual dues are $8.00, which will cover the costs of induction, club projects, and other expenses incurred during the year.
These policies are intended to make membership in the Oak Park National Junior Honor Society truly an honor.
