Effective Schools School Improvement Process

The Effective Schools Process provides a structure for school improvement. Each Decatur school has identified a Building Leadership Team (BLT) which consists of five to eight people and serves to involve the entire school staff in growth. The team develops a notebook which includes a wealth of information thatwill be used not only for the Effective Schools process, but for Southern Association Accreditation reviews and state-mandated evaluations. Already a defined leadership body, the BLT stands ready to share in decisions regarding Title I and other programs or to charter Action Teams as needed.

Tasks involved in this school improvement process include: defining beliefs and mission, collecting and disaggregating a variety of data, establishing goals, chartering action teams, developing and implementing action plans, evaluating, and celebrating.
