Listening skills: Read A Tree is Nice, by Janice May Udry; have students complete the sentence, "I think a tree is nice because___"

Journal sentence starters: "I was surprised that___." ;"I wonder about ___."

Extensions

Create a class mural of the terrarium and add to it as the unit progresses

Arrange for a local "Tree Expert" to visit your classroom to discuss the value of trees:
